The BC Pediatric Society offers CME accredited evening Journal Club education sessions.
These sessions feature speakers and topics of interest and importance to pediatricians. We survey our members to learn what topics they want to hear about, so if you have a request, please let BCPS know at admin@bcpeds.ca.

The Badges We Wear: Redefining Success, Meaning, and Well-being in Medicine
Dr. Katharine Smart, MD, FRCPC
Learning Objectives:
1) Identify common professional “badges of honour” in medicine, such as indispensability, overwork, achievement, and self-sacrifice and describe how they can influence physician well-being and professional identity.
2) Reflect on and evaluate the personal and professional measures of success that shape their own practice, including which expectations continue to serve them and which may no longer align with their values.
3) Identify at least one practical change they can make in their professional life to better align their work with their values, meaning, and sense of purpose.
This event has been approved by the Canadian Paediatric Society for a maximum of 0.75 credit hours as an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The specific opinions and content of this event are not necessarily those of the CPS, and are the responsibility of the organizer(s) alone.

Children’s Health
Today Conference
Children’s Health Today Conference is a partnership between the BC Pediatric Society and BC Children’s Hospital.
October 23-24, 2026
BC Pediatric Society is delighted to partner with the Division of Nephrology, BC Children’s Hospital, as our Day 2 partner.
This conference will take place live, in person only, at UBC Robson Square in Vancouver, BC. Full conference and single day registrations options are available.
We Value our Members, and our Members Value Us!
The BC Pediatric Society represents all pediatricians in British Columbia through our affiliation with the Doctors of BC (as the Section of Pediatrics), as well as with the Society of Specialist Physicians and Surgeons. And we advocate on behalf of all the children and youth in British Columbia in terms of health care needs.
When we have the funds, we film these sessions so that if you’re not able to attend, you can still gain a benefit from the lecture and discussion. These videos are posted in the Member Only section under CME and Education.
For these reasons, we really encourage all pediatricians to be members of the BC Pediatric Society.
